2008 Church Conference Report

Several significant milestones have occurred this year.

Regarding Finances

  • One item of transition: Hamline did not renew its lease of our education facilities. A search for new tenants is ongoing.

Regarding financial contributions

  • The 2006-08 Capital Campaign concluded receiving $2.4 million.
  • Glen and Marilyn Carlson Nelson challenged the congregation with a $350,000 matching pledge for debt and capital areas in 2008-2010.
  • Our Capital Campaign goal for 2009 was $100,000. This has been met and surpassed with pledges of $163,000.
  • With the paying of these pledges we will met the Nelson Challenge a year early.
  • We received endowment bequests of over $1 million for which the Trustees will provide financial management.
  • We received $145,000 in donations for specific capital projects.

As a result of this generosity we have accomplished the following this year:

Debt reduction

  • We have repaid our loans for the Education Wing and Dell Place property. The Church is now debt-free. A note-burning ceremony is being planned.

Your generous gifts to our church have taken us from a bleak financial picture three years ago to one of an optimistic outlook for the church facilities and capital investments. We are a generous and dedicated congregation.  The Trustees want to express their gratitude for your support.
